Preservation of Newspapers:

Newspapers filmed is 833,803 pages (119% of the total project), consisting of 1,229 microfilm reels.

This consists of -

West Australian (January 1912 - December 1954) 270,979 pages (418 reels)

Western Mail (January 1907 - January 1926) 59,376 pages (72 reels)

Coolgardie Miner (March 1913 - December 1917) 1,277 pages (2 reels)

Kalgoorlie Miner (January 1906 - December 1950) 113,049 pages (163 reels)

Northern Times (August 1905 - June 1952) 18,907 pages (30 reels)

Pilbarra Goldfields News (January 1898 - December 1900, January 1902 - March 1923) 6,032 pages (10 reels)

Eastern Districts Chronicle (January 1906 - January 1927) 6,711 pages (11 reels)

South Western News (April 1905 - December 1949) 15,660 pages (25 reels)

The Regional Libraries were presented with 833 microfilm copies covering the nine regional newspapers.

Photographic Digitisation:

The total number of images digitised is 81,480 (109% of the total project). Some of the Western Australian pictorial collections scanned are Stuart Gore, J.J. Dwyer, Sandstone, Illustrations Limited, Aboriginal People of W.A., Hilda Wright, Jimmy Woods and the Swan Brewery considered as having the greatest research value of the most at-risk material.

On-Line Access:

Of the images scanned a total of 46,236 images (231% of the total project) have been catalogued, linked and made available on-line to the community.

 

Motion Picture Film Preservation:

The total film titles preserved are 155 (103%).

Access copies are available through the State Library. Regional Libraries were also presented with selected DVD copies.
