A day in port at Esperance 1968 - Footage shows the town and harbour at Esperance and the countryside and coastline of the region. Men and machinery unloading superphosphate from the "Roald Amundsen" berthed in the harbour. Views of Wave Rock at Hyden are also included. The scenes and the day's activities are experienced by a passenger from the ship, Juliet Dawe.
A house in town 1969 - Gives advice for people moving into a new home, by showing the experiences of an aboriginal family moving from Allawah Grove to a new State Housing Commission house in the suburbs of Perth. Includes advice on furniture selection, food storage, healthy sleeping arrangements, and entertaining friends, socialising with neighbours and accepting advice from a Home Advisor. Depicts assimilationist policies in practice in the late 1960s.
A retrospect 1947 - Traces the history of Perth Girls School from its inception in 1847. The early history is played in costume by the girls. More recent activities of girls are concentrated on sport and outdoor displays.
A step farther [193-] - A featurette telling the story of a man left to mind baby in the park.
A town is born 1951 - A description of the township and the life of the people at Wittenoom Gorge. Mining of blue asbestos. With commentary.
Abrolhos Islands 1949 - A visit to the Abrolhos Islands. Shows fauna and flora of islands, coast and beach scenes; crayfishing; fishing. This film was probably never completed. Image only, with no sound.
After the 'A' bomb [197-] - This documentary calls in to question the damage done to flora and fauna by atomic bomb testing at the Montebello Islands. It contains archival footage of 'A' bombs in Japan and at the Montebello’s. Good footage of the post-bomb Montebello Islands including Alpha and Trimoville Islands. Interviews include Harry Butler, Dr Bruce Hartley and Barry King.
Albany pictorial review 1948 - News reel style film. Apple harvesting and packing. Fishing for sardines or pilchards, a ship from Hunt's cannery sights whales off Albany. Cheyne Beach salmon catch using nets set by rowing boat.
Albany whaling 1980 - A brief history of whaling off the West Australian coast to the closing down of the last whaling station in Australia at Albany. Scenes of protesters (incl. Dr Jim Cairns) and conservationist groups against whaling, followed by detailed sequences of harpooning whales and flensing operations. Concludes with the setting up of the Whaling Museum in Albany.
ALCCO Down Under 1971 - Report on the Australian Land and Cattle Company's (ALCCO) agricultural development programme in the Kimberley Region. The programme was developed by C. Itoh & Co., Japan, and Agricon Inc., Portland, Texas. Includes film of Camballin, Fitzroy River basin, farming activities, sorghum crop, cattle mustering on Liveringa station, Derby and Broome scenes, and recreation activities in the area.
All on a summer’s day 1969 - Follows the working day of an MTT bus crew. Shows some of the work carried out in the depot and workshops as well as scenes throughout the city and suburbs.
All points north 1957 - Follows the MMA air route from Perth to Darwin. At each stopover local scenery and industry is shown. Stopovers include Geraldton, Carnarvon, Learmonth, Port Hedland, Broome, Derby, Wyndham.

Barrow Island 1968 - The establishment and operation of Barrow Island oilfield and the transmission of oil to tankers by undersea pipeline. Includes good footage of Barrow Island, the people who work there, and the techniques employed in the oilfields.
Beaches and boats 1964 - The sandy beaches of the long coast of Western Australia; holidays for boating, water skiing, surf board riding and sunbathing.
Blue asbestos and the asbestos cement industry in Australia 1964 - Survey of Blue Asbestos mining and crushing at Wittenoom, the town of Wittenoom, transport of raw asbestos. Processing of asbestos and asbestos produced by James Hardie in factories throughout Australia. With commentary.
Boans May sale 1972 - Television advertisement showing a Boans delivery van arriving at a house in Dalkeith. Husband in tie and coat asks wife if she remembered his shirt. Sale continues to May 20th.
Bulk commodity movement [196-] - "A brief account of the methods employed by the West Australian government railway system in its role as the major transport of bulk commodities". Recounts the history of railway development in WA. Illustrates its theme with coverage of the movement of: Grain from the wheatbelt to Fremantle; Bauxite from the Darling Ranges to Kwinana; Iron ore from Koolanooka to Geraldton, and Koolyanobbing to Kwinana; Nickel from Kambalda to Kwinana; Salt from Lake Lefroy (near Norseman) to Esperance.
Bunbury to Perth – motor cycle record : January 1928 1928 - Arrival of Norm Cunningham and Edward (Ted) Cracknell at Victoria Park end of Causeway after establishing a record from Bunbury to Perth, covering the distance in 2 hours 50 mins in January, 1928. Cycle with sidecar arrives at Albany Highway near Causeway. Trams and cars are seen on road. Officials greet the arrival, then cycle is driven into service station.
Byways to highways 1957 - Shows the work of the Main Roads Department in the construction and maintenance of roads. Also includes footage of traffic, and Karri forests being razed to put roads through.
Central Hinterland 1969 - Surveys the Wheatbelt area. Shows harvesting of crops; beef cattle; sheep. Includes images of Narembeen swimming pool, Wave Rock (Hyden), Toodyay, Jurien Bay (crayfishing), Wundowie (iron ore smelting), rail transport, Northam.
Crosscut 1983 - Shows, by contrasting archival footage with recent takes, the progress that has been made in the technology of the timber industry in Western Australia. Four main stages are included: felling and cutting the giant karris, transportation of the huge logs to the mill, stockpiling and finally processing the timber into marketable forms.

Daily miracle 1947 - Tells the story of the production of one day's edition of "The West Australian" newspaper. Includes linotype machine and operator, compositors, casting of plates, newsprint rolls, printing press, packing, wrapping and distribution.
Dame Flora MacLeod of MacLeod DBE visits Western Australia 1954 - Footage of various functions attended by Dame Flora, including wreath laying at the War Memorial, Kings Park, presentation dinner at Civic Centre, Cottesloe, a river cruise aboard 'Hiawatha' from the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club, addressing the students at Scotch College, visits to University of WA and Royal Perth Hospital (with comprehensive views of the city and surrounds from the roof of the building) and visiting farming properties run by members of the MacLeod clan. Education notebook 1969 - A brief documentary about the W.A. Education system, from the first year of schooling through to teacher training. Footage includes shots of children arriving at school for their first day, an Anzac day service at the State War Memorial, children at music camp, and at physical education classes and of student teachers at many different activities.
F'ings ain't what they used to be 1962 - Shows final scene on stage at the Playhouse Theatre with the title song, followed by an interview by Charles Graham with Edgar Metcalfe in his dressing room whilst removing his make-up. Metcalfe discusses the next Playhouse production, and a forthcoming tour of the Eastern States.
Farm irrigation 1967 - A documentary about the surface system of irrigation practised in the districts of Waroona, Harvey and Collie, Western Australia. Good footage of the irrigation system and the planting and harvesting of potatoes. Shows bean, clover, citrus, stone fruits, apples, sorghum crops and people working in laboratories.
Forecasting bush-fire weather 1961 - Describes various steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of fire in country areas and illustrates the work of the Forests Dept in bushfire control, including the work of volunteers. Gas 1980 - Looks at the North West Shelf natural gas project, with particular reference to the North Rankin drilling platform. Bruce Kirkwood of the State Energy Commission explains the importance of the gas reserves for Western Australia. Harry Butler explains his role in overseeing environmental factors in the project, and anthropological issues involving Aboriginal sites are determined by experts from the WA Museum. Grandstand Perth: The summer sports 1971 - Dramatised story of the sporting activities in Perth over the summer of 1970/71 seen through the eyes of a journalist. Begins with a journey on the ferry 'Countess II' from South Perth jetty to Barrack Street jetty. It’s your forest 1984 - A subject which has generated heated discussion in Western Australia is the utilization of our south-west forests. Realizing the depth of feeling created by the issue, the Audio-Visual Branch has tackled the problem in a new video It's Your Forest. Included in the film are sequences which address the problems of clear felling, mining, salinity, die-back and agriculture. Rather than attempt to provide an answer to the range of problems presented by the utilization of our forests the video shows footage of what is happening and asks the question: What would you do? After all...it's your forest'.

Jumbuk jamboree 1961 - A record of various activities at the Katanning and district wool festival, October 1961. Distinguished guests attending included the Governor, Sir Charles Gairdner, the Premier David Brand, and C.D. Nalder, Min. for Agriculture. Begins with overview of the district, including sheep, cattle, standard-bred trotting horses, hay, grain and town scenes. Festival activities include novelty events, hayshed dance, wool display, marching girls, speedboat races, car races, shearing demonstration, fashion parade, parade of vehicular floats, 'Princess of wool' ball, and a pioneers church service to close the jamboree. Kalumburu mission 1970 - Shows the various aspects of the life of the staff and residents at Kalumburu Mission. Aboriginal men operate machinery to cut timber to size, and then construct houses. Residents receive medical treatment. Aboriginal men install a pipe in the river to pump water for irrigating crops. Aboriginal men spear fish in the river from a canoe. Community group poses outside church. Aboriginal men, women and children dance. Footage of nuns, horses, cattle with stockmen. A white teacher leads aboriginal children in physical exercises. Highly decorated aboriginal men dance in bushland.
Karri log to Kings Park 1958 - A large Karri log was donated to Kings Park by Bunnings Bros. from the Connelly River Mill, for the tree society. This records the moving of the log from Armadale to Kings Park, and the official reception by Herbert Graham, Sir Harry Howard, and Sir Thomas Meagher, then Chairman of the Kings Park Board.
Kimberley walkabout 1967 - A tourist safari through the Kimberley district of Western Australia - Broome, Derby, Fitzroy River, Ord River, and Kununurra.
Lamb for world market 1959 - The transport of sheep to Robb Jetty, near Fremantle; slaughtering, grading and dressing; blast freezing techniques.

Describes the need for improved housing for pigs on farms, and illustrates the design for a farrowing pen with heated central haver to protect piglets from crushing and chilling.
Moving mountains 1966 - Documentary about the operation of Hamersley Iron development at Mt. Tom Price and the transport of iron ore to Dampier by rail. It shows a shot-line, transport of ore by haulpak and rail, conveyors at the dump, the diesel driven power station and control room and loading of a ship in the port of Dampier. Aerial views of the port, salt flats and Dampier are included.
Narrows Bridge 1961 - The construction of the Narrows Bridge over the Swan River, and the way in which the construction problems were overcome.
North West diary 1948 - Stuart Gore and his wife (Jan Kennedy) took a supply of food, film and other equipment in an old car they renovated, which had once belonged to Claude De Bernales, and made a slow journey up the north west coast of W.A. This is a film record of that journey. There are a few shots of Shark Bay, and Carnarvon, but it concentrates on the northern sector. The film was presented personally by Mr Gore at public showings at which he delivered a spoken commentary.

A brief animation sequence introduces the film by explaining the processes of excavating iron ore from Mt Whaleback and transporting it to Port Hedland for stockpiling and loading onto ships.
Pigeon c.1975 - Pigeon is the nickname of an Aboriginal tracker, Jandamarra, who worked for the West Kimberley Police in N.W. Australia. The film portrays him as the first Aboriginal to embark on a black revolution to rid the Kimberley of the white man. He shot Police Constable Richardson and freed his Aboriginal outlaw prisoners.

Swanleigh Anglican Hostel : Swan Boys Home c.1943 - Black and white footage of Swanleigh is interspersed with colour footage. The sign Swan Boys Home may indicate that the black and white footage is pre the 1943 amalgamation of the Swan Boys Orphanage and Perth Girls Orphanage. The colour footage shows both boys and girls at Swanleigh. The children are shown: milking cows; tending the gardens; chopping wood; doing woodwork; going to church and looking after farm animals. The opening of the Alexander Library Building 1985 - The opening of the Alexander Library Building 18 June 1985 by the Premier Brian Burke. Professor Fred Alexander, after whom the building is named, was present and a bust of him was unveiled. There are interior and exterior views of the building and the Perth Cultural Centre and a pan of the city, Northbridge and East Perth from the Alexander Library Building.

The Stirling story 1954 - A reenactment of the exploration by Captain James Stirling of the Swan and Canning Rivers, including the contact with aboriginal inhabitants.
The story of the War Veterans 1962 - The ceremony to commence development of the site is performed in July 1960 by Bill Lonnie of the RSL and the Governor, Sir Charles Gairdner. The construction of the buildings is shown, and the veterans moving in on March 11 1961. The official opening is performed by Premier David Brand and the first ANZAC Day ceremony is shown. Footage of the women's and men's quarters, resident activities, and communal facilities such as laundry, dining and recreation.
The way to youth 1980 - Depicts youth activities during 1979, Western Australia's 150th Anniversary Year. The special events include the opening ceremony at the Esplanade, the Toodyay 'Back to school' celebrations, the Kalgoorlie schools' pageant and the Perth pageant. Youth 1944 - A large parade was organised by the National Fitness Council of W.A., in conjunction with the Rotary Youth Week at Gloucester Park on 21st October, 1944. Guest of Honour was John Curtin. Director of National Fitness: Richard E. Halliday, Hon. Organiser: William English. The event included a march-past and various sporting and physical education demonstrations.
